HOMO HABILIS
All early home species a evolving from about 2.5 million year ago have been conveniently placed in the category of Homo Habilis or handyman the earliest Fossil of heaviness was found in 1960 by Louis and Mary Leakey at Olduvai in Tanzania East Africa
Although most of the Fossil of habilis species have been found in East Africa but few fossils of the same species have also been recovered from South Africa and South East Asia where term Telanthropus and Meganthropus have been used for Homo habilis species...
As point out earlier homeo habilis had many similarities with the Australopithecus species , as beside other similarties both about 40 kg and had a similar average height of about 4.3 feet.
Homo Habilis have had a larger brain with an average carnial capacity of 650 cc in comparison to Australopithecine species that had average Carnal capacity of 450 to 500 cc
Another evolutionary advantage that the Habilis had over Australopithecines was the existence of speech producing and control area termed as 'Broca,' in the brain which allow this species to produce a variety of sound.
Tools
Large number of crude tools made from pebbles along with hominid and animal bone was found at Olduvai George dated around 2 million year ago..
Making at the earliest designated human culture that is the OLDOWAN CULTURE.
The artefacts found during the excavation at Olduvai between 1935 and 1959 by a team lead by Louis Leakey sugges that,
HOMO Habilis use chipped stone to shape them into.......
>Crude Chopper,
>Scrapper
>Burins
>Hammer Stone.
They use this tool to cut ,scrape or dig.
The tool marks on the animal bone form exclusively vegetables/plant diet of the
apes the same side suggest that meet for a part of regular diet from exclusively vegetable plant diet of the Apes.
However the small size and crudeness of the tool found at Olduvai has led scholar to conclude that. HOMO Habilis, ,was not an expert Hunter but is scavenged meat and bone marrow from the animal cracasses killed by the other carnivores.
HOMO. Habilis became extinct around 1.5 mya, paving way for the evolution of much advanced HOMO species.
